Current Obsessions

Greetings to all my loyal readers!
I’m sorry that I haven’t been more active in posting. To bring you up to speed with the goings on in my life, I’ve decided to share all the things that I’m currently, completely and unabashedly obsessed with. Buckle up, there are some plot twists coming your way.

First of all. Call the doctor because this bitch has Bieber fever.

“Sorry” has become an anthem and I’m adding to my list of life goals to perfect these dance moves.
Needless to say, it’s a work in progress.

Next item of business. I’ve been cooking! Again. I really don’t understand what is going on. In my mind, this is a huge leap for mankind. There haven’t been any major catastrophes and everything I’ve made has been delicious. I am queen of the kitchen.

Last night was tiki masala. It was amazing. I had the leftovers for breakfast.

But when you have tiki masala for breakfast, that definitely means you’re going to the gym, which brings me to my next obsession. Ladies and gentlemen of the court, I am getting back into fitness.

I warned you this post was going to be full of plot twists. So, now that I’ve proclaimed my fitness obsession on the world wide web, I actually have to follow through. I also am going to Florida for Christmas and I have to look great in a bathing suit.

That being said, this is where we’re starting.

This is where we’re trying to get.

One day at a time.

I’ve also become a bit of a workaholic. I cannot resist a challenge and this past week, the gauntlet has been thrown down. We have been having a truffle contest. For those of you who don’t know what a truffle is, allow me to educate.

This is a white truffle. They are an extremely rare and decadent culinary ingredient, which makes them expensive. Fun fact- they grow underground and are sniffed out by scientific pigs. Did anyone catch my allusion to THE KING AND I? Please someone appreciate my wittiness.

Today is the last day of the contest and when I win I get a bottle of wine of my choosing.

‘Tis the season for truffles and speaking of, my final obsession of late is Christmas. I have gone into full house elf mode.

I dropped a small fortune at Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Marshalls (because I try to be frugal). The next day I looked at my credit card statement and cried. I have no regrets. We will be getting a tree as soon as it’s socially acceptable. I’ve already started listening to Christmas music so if you happen to walk past me and I’m grinning like a goon with my headphones in, that is why. Either that or I’m listening to my boyfriend’s new album (boyfriend= Justin Bieber).

Peace, love, and besos.
Oh, one last thing. I’m learning Spanish.

A Perfect Night

Monday gets a bad rap and for the most part, it’s well deserved.

But this Monday night was different.
This Monday was brought to you by Trader Joe’s Wine Shop. I went in for like, a bottle or two, you know. I left with five.

I was so psyched about all the money I’d just spent on a week’s worth of booze that I wasn’t thinking about the long haul home. Approximately 10 flights of stairs later, my precious cargo and I made it home.
After barging into my apartment and leaving disaster in my wake, I lit some candles, turned on my favorite Sara Bareilles playlist and decided I was going to cook dinner. I’ve been dabbling in some culinary adventures recently (shocking, I know) and I’ve discovered that the best part about cooking is sharing your food with people! I’m not trying to end world hunger or anything, I’m really just in it for the praise and validation. I also just love food-so there’s that.

So, I invited my best friend over for a romantic dinner. The occasion- a celebration of life. We don’t do this often enough. The recipe was Rachel Ray’s “You Won’t Be Single For Long” Vodka Sauce. I think that right there is freaking hysterical seeing as how I’ve been single since 2013.

But I digress.

wine + food + good company = a perfect night
